Cooperative Extension Announces June Better Living Series

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Cooperative Extension announces the June 2024 Better Living Series workshops. All June workshops will be held at the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension office, located at 301 East Mountain Dr., Fayetteville.

Please note registration for the June Better Living Series workshops is not available via Eventbrite. Anyone who wishes to register can call or visit Cooperative Extension in person. Registration fees can be paid by check, money order or by cash in the exact amount. Make checks payable to Cumberland County. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.

Figs for the Home Landscape will be held June 5 from 12 – 1:30 p.m. and again from 6:30 – 8 p.m. The $12 registration fee is due by May 31. Figs are a summertime treat overlooked by many gardeners. Figs can be canned, made into jam or eaten fresh. This workshop will teach participants how to grow and harvest homegrown figs in containers or on the ground. Participants will receive a small fig tree to plant at home. Register by contacting Cooperative Extension in person or by calling the office at 910-321-6405. 

Safe Pressure Canning 101 will be held June 12 from 12 – 2 p.m. The $12 registration fee is due by June 7. This class will cover the basics of pressure canning for  beginners or those who have canned before and want to learn more up-do-date recommendations. Learn the steps to safely and confidently pressure can low-acid foods in this hands-on workshop. Register by contacting Cooperative Extension in person or by calling the office at 910-321-6405.
