Noncustodial parents who do not have child support withheld from their wages have a few options available to make their payments. If the noncustodial parent chooses to mail their payment; they should do so by check or money order payable to North Carolina Child Support. The check or money order should contain the payor’s MPI # (Master Participant Index Number). This will ensure the payment is properly applied to the noncustodial parent’s case(s). The MPI # can be provided by the local child support agency.

Noncustodial parents may also pay by bank draft by submitting a registration form to North Carolina Child Support Centralized Collections by U.S. mail or fax to 1-919-787-0655. A form may be obtained by calling North Carolina Child Support Customer Service Center at 1-800-992-9457 or by clicking the form below.

Additionally, payments are accepted by credit card and debit card at https://nc.smartchildsupport.com/CreditCard.aspx or by calling SMI Smart Pay IVR by dialing 1-855-702-2268 and following the prompts.
This payment option requires a 2.5% convenience fee in addition to the child support payment, regardless of the payment type.
