Unfortunately, our community is one of several hit hard by opioid-related injury and death. Data from the Injury & Violence Prevention Branch indicates in 2020 there were 631 emergency department visits for unintentional opioid poisoning and 8,256 residents affected by unintentional drug poisonings in Cumberland County. In the same year, 142 residents died due to unintentional opioid poisoning.
