On June 15, 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released interim national drinking water health advisories for PFOA and PFOS and final national drinking water health advisories for GenX and PFBS. Factsheets with more information about GenX, and PFAS are available along with information about water testing and filtration options. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NC DEQ) has a consent order in place that requires Chemours to test private wells for PFAS if they are located within a certain distance to the Chemours facility near Fayetteville or the Lower Cape Fear River. For those in Cumberland County located near the Chemours facility, contact NCDEQ at (910) 678-1101 about testing.
