Mission
In order to make a positive contribution to the health and wellness of adolescents, teenagers, and young adults in Cumberland County, we aim to work together with the community.
Purpose
In order to enhance the health and well-being of teenagers in Cumberland County, it is important to raise awareness about the programs and services available to adolescents and teens in the county. Additionally, it is crucial to increase community awareness about the issues that affect the teen population and align our goals and objectives with the CCDPH strategic plan.
Teen Wellness Clinic
The TWTF promotes clinic-linking to the Teen Wellness Clinic at the Cumberland County Health Department. In North Carolina, minors do not need parental or guardian permission to receive the following:
- Contraceptive services (birth control)
- Information on abstinence and safer sex
- Prenatal care (including pregnancy testing and ultrasound services
- Testing and treatment for STDs, including HIV
- Treatment for alcohol/drug use and emotional disturbance (which we refer treatment for)
Teenagers can give their consent for these services independently.
Meetings
The monthly meeting is held on the second Wednesday of every month from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at CCDPH.
