How Do I Report a Hazard or Violation?
A hazard or violation may be reported at any time. The Fire Marshal's Office will respond to any complaint regarding a life safety hazard or other fire code violation in Cumberland County. These may be reported directly to the Fire Marshal's Office during normal business hours.
The Cumberland County Emergency Communications Center provides an emergency phone number for the reporting of immediate life safety problems in Cumberland County, i.e., locked exits, overcrowding, etc., which occur or are reported after normal business hours, on holidays or on weekends.
Call 321-6736 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Call 483-5467 Weekdays, weekends, and holidays from 5 p.m. through 8 a.m.
To report Illegal Burning:
Call the Air Quality Division at 433-3300 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
All complaints will require the following information to be recorded in order to be processed:
- Name of person filing complaint
- Address and phone number of person filing complaint
- Location of area of complaint
- Type of problem/violation
A written record of all complaints is maintained in the Fire Marshal's Office, however, all names are kept strictly confidential and are not released to the general public.
