Fire Marshal's Office

The Cumberland County Fire Marshal's Office inspects and fairly enforces all areas of the NC Fire Prevention Code and local ordinances in all occupancies covered by these codes in Cumberland County. The Fire Marshal's Office serves as a liaison between County government and contracted fire departments.

Requesting A Foster Home Fire Inspection

Follow these steps:

1. Visit our Application Assistant

2. Create you own personal account

3. Click Apply at the top of the page

4. When selecting permit type, click on "Residential Fire Inspection"

5. Complete all requested information

6. Pay you fire inspection fee of $75.00

7. Our office will contact you shortly to schedule a time to complete the requested inspection.

Services

  • Fire education classes for citizen groups, clubs and the general public
  • Inspection of all public/private schools, day care centers and homes, nursing and rest homes, foster and group homes
  • Code enforcement of all buildings and structures regulated by the NC Fire Prevention Code
  • Liaison between the County Fire Departments internal and external stakeholders and County Government 
  • Fire prevention activities

Free Smoke Alarm

  1. Scroll down to the fire station lookup tool, enter your home address and click the search icon.
  2. The contact information of the fire station that responds to your home address will be made available.
  3. Call your local fire station and request for a free smoke alarm install and home safety risk assessment. 
  4. The fire department will coordinate a time that is convenient with your schedule to come evaluate your current smoke alarms, install new alarms if needed and complete a home safety risk assessment free of charge.
