Noncustodial Parents
Noncustodial parents who do not have child support withheld from their wages have a few options available to make their payments. If the noncustodial parent chooses to mail their payment; they should do so by check or money order payable to North Carolina Child Support. The check or money order should contain the payor’s MPI # (Master Participant Index Number). This will ensure the payment is properly applied to the noncustodial parent’s case(s). The MPI # can be provided by the local child support agency.

Paying by bank draft by submitting a registration form to North Carolina Child Support Centralized Collections by U.S. mail or fax to 1-919-787-0655. A form may be obtained by calling North Carolina Child Support Customer Service Center at 1-800-992-9457.
By using Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, or Venmo if you have your credit/debit card linked to an e-wallet account. The service fee for using this service is 2.5% and is separate from your child support obligation.
At any Walmart nationwide. Visit the Walmart Money Center or Customer Service Desk, request to make a bill payment to NC Child Support, and provide the representative with your picture ID, name and MPI number (without the leading zeroes). Payments can be made with cash or debit card. A $2.00 service fee applies in addition to the payment amount.
Additionally, payments are accepted by credit card and debit card at https://nc.smartchildsupport.com/CreditCard.aspx or by calling SMI Smart Pay IVR by dialing 1-800-992-9457 or 1-855-702-2268 and following the prompts. This payment option requires a 2.5% convenience fee in addition to the child support payment, regardless of the payment type.
