The landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) at the Cumberland County Ann Street Landfill extracts landfill gas (LFG) to control surface emissions and odors. The GCCS is a requirement of the landfill’s Title V Air Operating Permit and State and federal regulations. Our GCCS processes 1,250 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) daily and includes 50 LFG extraction wells, piping, valves, sumps, and a blower skid and flare. The existing blower skid and flare have been operational since 1998 and will be upgraded this year.
LFG collected is utilized as a biofuel for Cargill. Last year, 150,000 million British thermal units (MMBtu) of sustainable biomass energy was sold to Cargill.
