Community Transportation Program

(Español)

The mission of the Community Transportation Program (CTP) is to provide safe, dependable, accessible and affordable transportation to Cumberland County residents.

Thousands of Cumberland County residents travel in their own vehicles to various destinations across the city and county. They rely on their own independence to get to work, the doctor's office or even the grocery store. However, some residents try to manage daily with the reality of not having any means of transportation. Many of those without vehicles get from place to place using public transportation.

For some people, riding public transportation can be challenging because of physical, financial or other issues. To assist with these transportation challenges, the State of North Carolina has enacted the Rural Operating Assistance Program Grant.

In addition, the Community Transportation Program also receives a portion of the Home & Community Care Block Grant administered by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services through the Mid-Carolina Area Agency on Aging.

The Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) is the support organization for the Community Transportation Program. The purpose of the TAB is to provide technical advice and assistance in carrying out the goals of the program. Members of the TAB are appointed by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners for a two year term. Meetings are held quarterly at the Historic Courthouse Courtroom #3 and are open to the public.
