Jul 15, 2024

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Public Library will hold two new programs designed to engage and delight people of all ages in the community in July. Bubble Wonders will explore the wonders of science and Memory Lane will explore the power of the mind.

Bubble Wonders will be held July 18 – 20, at various times, at each of the eight Cumberland County Public Libraries. Join your library for a fascinating, interactive exploration of bubbles. Geoff Akins-Hannah, a bubble artist, will demonstrate bubble tricks, including the bubble caterpillar, bubble volcano, dancing bubble, bubbles inside bubbles and a kid inside a bubble. Memory Lane will be held July 27 at 10 a.m. at Bordeaux Community Library, located at 3711 Village Dr., Fayetteville. Memory Lane will feature a panel discussion with memory care professionals who will share insights and information related to memory and people caring for individuals with dementia or other memory-related conditions.

In addition to the panel discussion, the library will introduce new Memory Care Kits, designed to support caregivers and individuals experiencing memory problems. These kits, available for checkout, include various activities aimed at stimulating memory and cognitive functions. These 15 unique kits feature different themes to spark conversations and reminiscing and are part of library’s commitment to supporting the community and provide resources.

“Library staff have been working diligently to provide an excellent menu of program offerings for all ages this summer,” said Cumberland County Public Library Director Faith Phillips. “I am proud of their work and honored to have such great opportunities for our community.”
