Jul 18, 2024

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County has been recognized by the National Association of Counties (NACo) for providing a top-notch digital experience for citizens.

The County’s Innovation and Technology Services (ITS) Department won second place for its population category in NACo’s 2024 Digital Counties Survey Awards. Cumberland County officials accepted the award during the NACo annual conference held July 12 – 15 in Hillsborough County, Fla.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our ITS team. Their innovative efforts and commitment to enhancing our county's digital infrastructure are truly commendable,” said Chairman Glenn Adams. “Using technology to effectively engage our residents is among the Board of Commissioners’ top priorities and we are extremely proud of our County management team and departments for moving that priority forward.”

Cumberland County made a significant a jump in this year’s survey moving up five spots to finish second among counties with a population of 250,000 – 499,999. The honor from the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and NACo places Cumberland among a distinguished group of counties that have worked hard to improve their digital, citizen and government experience through technology and leadership.

“This award truly reflects our team’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and pushing the boundaries of technological achievement,” said Cumberland County ITS Director Keith Todd. “This recognition motivates us to continue forging a path towards a more intelligent future.”

Cumberland County ITS consistently ranks in the top-10 counties of comparable population in the Digital Counties Survey. Cumberland County ranked 7th in 2023 and 9th in 2019.
