FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County residents are advised to exercise caution when traveling today, Feb. 20, 2025, due to the presence of black ice on roadways, particularly in the northern areas of the county. While primary roads have been treated, secondary roads and neighborhood streets may still have spotty areas of black ice that could present a hazard to drivers.
In addition, Cumberland County Solid Waste landfill and container site customers are urged to take extra care when accessing facilities. Slick surfaces, especially at the scales and on concrete areas, may pose a risk. County staff has applied salt treatment to the concreate areas and scales and is working diligently to improve conditions, but caution is still advised.
Residents are advised to exercise caution when traveling and to stay informed about weather updates. In case of emergencies, please call 9-1-1.
