Voter Registration Deadline is Friday October 11

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Residents who want to cast their vote for the 2024 election have until Friday, Oct. 11 to register.

Eligible individuals may register to vote by:

  • To register to vote in North Carolina, a Voter Registration Application must be completed and sent to the Cumberland County Board of Elections by 5 p.m. on Oct. 11. The application must be postmarked Oct. 11. If there is no postmark or if it’s unclear, the application can still be processed as long as it arrives in the mail by the deadline of 20 days before the election. However, if it arrives later, it will not be processed until after the election. Applications sent by fax or email must be received by 5 p.m. on Oct. 11, and require a hard copy delivered to the County Board of Elections at least 20 days before the election.
  • Existing North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles’ customers may register to vote online.

Qualified voters must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Live in the county where you are registering and have done so for at least 30 days before the election..
  • Be at least 18 years old by the date of the general election.
  • Not be serving a sentence for a felony, which includes probation, parole, or post-release supervision.

If the Oct. 11 registration deadline is missed, residents can still register and vote during the early voting period from Oct. 17 – Nov. 2. For more information about early voting locations throughout the state, visit vt.ncsbe.gov/EVSite.
