Immunizations

New Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines Approved

The FDA has approved and granted emergency use authorization (EUA) for updated COVID-19 vaccines for the 2024-2025. The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone ages 6 months and older get the 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine and a 2024-2025 flu vaccine. This includes people who have received a COVID-19/flu vaccine before and people who have had COVID-19 or the flu.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccines

RSV vaccines for pregnant women will begin August 15th. RSV vaccines for infants will begin September 15th. RSV vaccines for 60+  remain available. Learn more about RSV vaccine recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/rsv/index.html)

The Immunization Clinic is staffed by registered nurses and administrative support. The clinic is a walk-in clinic and serves the general public by administering both required and recommended vaccinations to children and adults. It is a regional immunizations clinic, as many of the vaccines needed by overseas travelers are offered.

Appointments are required for travel assessments and travel vaccines; all other immunization clinic services are walk-in.

PPD skin tests require two visits to the clinic; the first visit is to place* the skin test, a second visit 2-3 days later to read your skin results.

In order to serve you better, please bring the following documentation with you:

    • Photo I.D.
    • Shot records
    • Insurance cards
    • Custody/Legal guardianship documentation
    • Signed letter of consent from parent/legal guardian of a minor (Only needed if anyone other than a parent/legal guardian brings a minor in for immunizations.) The letter needs to include the parent's name, child's name, and the date. The person bringing in the child must provide a photo I.D.

    Required Vaccines for School

Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to walk-in for required immunizations prior to the start of each school year.

Wait times for immunizations increase as the deadline for back-to-school immunizations approaches.

In North Carolina proof of required immunizations are required within 30 days of the first date of attendance of school. After 30 days, children are to be excluded from school until the family provides documentation of requirements.
