Early Voting for Republican 2nd Primary Election April 25 – May 11

Early Voting for the Republican 2nd Primary Election begins April 25 and ends May 11. The Republican Primary Election is Tuesday, May 14, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Early Voting for the Republican 2nd Primary Election begins April 25 and ends May 11. Voters will be required to show photo identification in order to vote in this election. Citizens who do not have a photo ID can get a free ID at the Board of Elections office. The Republican Primary Election is Tuesday, May 14, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Only registered Republican or unaffiliated voters that voted Republican in the March 5, 2024 election, or unaffiliated voters that did not vote in the March 5, 2024 election my vote in the Republican 2nd Primary Election.

The schedule for Early Voting for the Primary Election is Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, May 11. Early voting hours Monday through Friday are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and early voting hours on Saturday, May 11 are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Early Voting will be held at the Cumberland County Board of Elections office, located in the E. Newton Smith Center at 227 Fountainhead Lane, Fayetteville.

To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or older and a legal resident of Cumberland County for 30 days before the date of the next election. If you are not a registered voter, you may register and vote only on Election Day if you are newly eligible to vote because you:

  • Became a new county resident between Feb. 5, 2024 and April 14, 2024
  • Were naturalized as a U.S. citizen after March 5, 2024
  • Completed a felony sentence after March 5, 2024
  • Were absent on Feb. 9, 2024, due to uniformed service.

Voter ID Requirements

Starting in elections in 2023, all North Carolina voters are required to show photo identification in order to vote. Many forms of ID are already accepted in order to vote including:

  • North Carolina driver’s license
  • State ID from the NCDMV (also called non-operator ID)
  • Driver’s license or non-driver’s license from another state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory (only if voter registered in North Carolina within 90 days of the election)
  • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport card
  • Voter ID card issued by a County Board of Elections
  • College or university student ID approved by the State Board of Elections
  • State or local government or charter school employee ID approved by the State Board of Elections
