FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – In anticipation of winter weather, Cumberland County Emergency Services hopes to educate the community of the risks for home fires. Fatalities from home fires increase significantly when there are no working smoke alarms in the home. To help prevent increased risks and improve safety throughout the County, Emergency Services is offering free smoke and carbon monoxide alarm installation as well as free home risk assessments. The free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms were made possible by funding through ABC 11’s Operation Save a Life program. To learn more information about Operation Save a Life, visit abc11.com/post/2024-operation-save-life/15417285/.

Cumberland County residents are encouraged to check household smoke and carbon monoxide alarms regularly, and to contact their local fire station for assistance.

To request a free smoke alarm and free home risk assessment, visit cumberlandcountync.gov/emergencyservices/fire-marshal. Residents may use the Fire Station Lookup tool to learn which fire station is nearest their home address.
