FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Department of Public Health is partnering with Cumberland County Public Schools to hold evening Back-To-School Immunizations and COVID-19 Clinics for school children and teenagers in grades K – 12.
Walk-ins will be accepted each day until the clinic reaches capacity. No walk-ins will be accepted after 6:30 p.m. Insurance will be collected. However, vaccines are free for children under 18 through the “Vaccines for Children” program. Bring an ID card, a copy of your insurance card and your immunization records, if available. Clinics for all students entering grades kindergarten, 7 and 12 will be available at the Health Department Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. The Health Department is located at 1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville. Back-To-School Immunizations will also be offered during the Health Department’s Fun in the Sun Event on Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

- Sept. 17, Tuesday, 4 – 7 p.m. Douglas Byrd Middle School (1616 Ireland Dr., Fayetteville)
- Sept. 19, Thursday, 4 – 7 p.m. Nick Jeralds Middle School (2517 Ramsey St., Fayetteville)
- Sept. 24, Tuesday, 4 – 7 p.m. Gray’s Creek High School (5301 Celebration Dr., Hope Mills)
The clinics will serve the first 70 students; no appointments necessary. The first 50 families at each event will receive free healthy snacks. If you need transportation to the Health Department for a walk-in visit to the immunizations clinic, call 910-433-3600.
All students entering grade 7 are required to obtain a Tdap and meningococcal conjugate vaccine before starting school. As of Aug. 1, 2020, a booster dose to protect against meningococcal disease is required for adolescents entering 12th grade 12, or by age 17, whichever comes first.

Anyone 18 years old or younger who does not have health insurance, or insurance does not cover immunizations, will receive immunizations at no cost through the Vaccines for Children Program.
In accordance with state law, parents and caregivers have 30 calendar days from the first day of attendance to present the required immunization record and health assessment transmittal form for the child. After 30 calendar days, students will not be allowed to attend school until the required immunizations and health assessment transmittal form has been presented.
Anyone who cannot attend one of these events can get their required immunizations at the Health Department, Monday – Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please visit
