FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Tax Administration reminds citizens that the 2025 listing period for all residents and non-residents owning taxable property in Cumberland County is Jan. 1 - 31, 2025. To avoid a 10% late listing penalty, property owners must complete, sign and return their listing forms by Jan. 31, 2025. If mailed, completed and signed listing forms must be postmarked on or before Jan. 31 to be accepted as timely.
Listing forms may be downloaded from the Cumberland County Tax Administration website, cumberlandcountync.gov/tax and clicking on the Forms and Publications tab. Forms are also available in person at the Tax Administration Office located in Room 530 on the 5th floor of the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse, 117 Dick St., Fayetteville. Tax Administration is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Taxpayers should note that County Government offices and the Courthouse will be closed Dec. 24 – 26 for the Christmas holiday and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day. Taxpayers are encouraged to plan accordingly

Forms can also be delivered in person to the Tax Administration office, or dropped at the secure drop box, located near the U.S. Postal Service mailboxes in the rear parking lot, facing Cool Spring and Russell streets.
Taxable property includes:
- Business and income producing property
- Personal property
- Agri-business/farm income producing property
- Improvements to owned real estate property

Active duty, non-resident military personnel may be exempt from taxation on personal property only. To claim this exemption, a current end of month LES (Leave and Earning Statement) should be submitted with the listing.
