FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The following is a summary of the Feb. 3, 2025, Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting, which was held at 9 a.m. in Room 118 of the Judge E. Vice Chairwoman Veronica Jones gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Board unanimously approved the AGENDA with the removal of Item of Business A, the Consideration of a New Lease with Cumberland County Communicare, Inc.
The Board voted unanimously to approve the following CONSENT AGENDA items unless otherwise noted:
A. Approval of Report on Delinquent Real Property for the Year 2024
B. Approval of Sale of Surplus Real Property Located at 400 Buhmann Drive, Fayetteville
C. Approval of Request to Change Vacant Full-time Library Position to 2 Hourly Positions
D. Approval of Budget Ordinance Amendments for the February 3, 2025 Board of Commissioners' Agenda
E. Approval of Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Agenda Session Items
- Grant of 30’ Utility Easement to South River Electric Membership Corporation
The following ITEMS OF BUSINESS were discussed:
A. Consideration of New Lease with Cumberland County Communicare, Inc.: This item was removed from the agenda.
B. Homeland Security Grant Program Award From North Carolina Emergency Management and Associated Budget Ordinance Amendment #B250379: The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a $62,000 grant through the Homeland Security Grant Program to purchase an ICOR Mini-Caliber Robot, a cutting-edge tactical tool designed to enhance law enforcement capabilities during high-risk operations, including bomb squad missions. The Sheriff’s Office requested approval of a Budget Ordinance Amendment to recognize the grant funds and acceptance of the grant award. The Board voted unanimously to approve this item.
C. Approval of a Proclamation Recognizing Black History Month: Commissioner Glenn Adams requested approval of a proclamation recognizing February 2025 as Black History Month in Cumberland County and encouraging all county residents to honor the diverse heritage, culture and many contributions of African Americans in Cumberland County. The Board voted unanimously to approve this item.
The Board went into CLOSED SESSION to discuss an Attorney Client Matter pursuant to NCGS143-318.11(a)(3).
The Board adjourned the meeting at 10:03 a.m.
