FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The following is a summary of the Feb. 19, 2024, Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting, which was held at 6:45 p.m. in Room 118 of the Judge E. The Board recognized Cumberland County Native and Grammy award winner NaTasha Williams. Commissioners presented Williams with a proclamation following her recognition at the 66^th Annual Grammy Awards where she won a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album as the principal vocalist in the original album, “Some Like It Hot.” Williams, who is an alumnus of Cape Fear High School, is an accomplished actress, singer, and entertainer. Following the recognition, Williams thanked the Commissioners and addressed those in attendance, including many of her family members, friends and one of her former teachers.

The Board unanimously approved the following items as part of the CONSENT AGENDA, unless otherwise noted below.

7. Approval of Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Agenda Session Items
   1. Matching Funds for the CAB Program and Associated Budget Ordinance Amendment B#240911
   2. Resolution Authorizing the Expenditure of Opioid Settlement Funds And Associated Budget Ordinance Amendment B#241417
   3. Gray's Creek Water and Sewer District Water Main Extension Capital Project - Phase I and Associated Capital Project Ordinance #241062
   4. Intent to Selland Exchange Certain Property in the Cumberland Industrial Center

A PUBLIC HEARING for Case # MH-6638-2023 - Approval of Order to Demolish or Remove a Dilapidated Structure located at 3376 King Charles Rd. was removed from the agenda.

The Board recessed the meeting and convened as the Gray’s Creek Water and Sewer District Governing Board, approving the following CONSENT AGENDA item:

1. Gray’s Creek Water and Sewer District Water Main Extension Capital Project – Phase 1 and Associated Capital Project Ordinance #241062

The Board then reconvened the Board of Commissioners meeting and went into CLOSED SESSION to discuss Economic Development pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(4) and Attorney-Client matters pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11(a)(3).
