Nov 22, 2024, 09:31 AM by Sade' Wilson

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Public Library received a $7,200 grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County for the 16th annual Storytelling Festival, which will be held March 1-31, 2025.

Financial support from the Arts Council allows Cumberland County Public Library to secure professional performers during the festival. The free, month-long storytelling festival features stories and activities for children from birth to age 12. Community members are encouraged to join the library for a journey into the world of myths and marvels and experience the timeless art of storytelling at its finest.

“This year’s theme, ‘Mythical Marvels’, allows us to delve into some of the most magical, adventurous and inspiring stories that have been passed down through generations,” said Faith Phillips, Cumberland County Assistant County Manager and Library Director. “Our hope is to spark imaginations, foster a sense of wonder and provide a gathering place for everyone to share in the magic of storytelling.”

Festival programs and activities will celebrate and encourage storytelling through different perspectives by embracing diverse voices and cultures. The Storytelling Festival aims to encourage inclusion, promote literacy and spark creativity for community members.

The Arts Council Project Support Grants increase opportunities for access to arts, cultural and historical programming in Cumberland County. The grants are awarded to nonprofit agencies, institutions of higher education and municipal entities in Cumberland County that demonstrate administrative and financial stability.
